This year CRI is partnering with Relove Fashion, a sustainable fashion competition run by the Rediscovery Centre, Ireland’s National Centre for the Circular Economy.
Relove Fashion is open to young people aged 12-19 across the country, in schools, after-school clubs, youth groups, and as individuals. You can read more here.
To enter the competition, applicants are challenged to explore their creative design skills to create a sustainable and rewearable outfit using clothing from the treasure troves of charity shops, swap shops, or reused textiles already available at home. Last year saw over 400 participants, with regional and national winners in six different categories.
How to get involved: Students will be paired with a participating shop, who will provide a bag of unsaleable textiles for students to work with. Each student will be provided with a letter to confirm their legitimate participation in the project, which they will bring with them to the shop.
What is the benefit for my shop? CRI and Relove Fashion will credit participating shops on social media. The collaboration will help to spotlight the place of charity retail in the reuse sector and circular economy. You can review the campaign’s fantastic media coverage here. Relove fashion is also supported by high profile media figures and influencers who will further amplify the message. You will also receive a poster to indicate your involvement.
